'Fallout 76: Wastelanders' Will Publish A Reputation System
We've known for a while that Fallout 76's first expansion, Wastelanders, would feature a pair of rival factions composed of non-player personalities, but now we are starting to get some information about how you'll interact with these factions. In a new blog post at Bethesda, the game’s developers describe a reputation system that tracks your relationship with both the Raiders and the Settlers coming to Appalachia in the upcoming DLC. Bethesda also hints in"a particular Wastelanders announcement" dropping next week, also states that a trailer will be published on February 4.
"When you first meet the Settlers and Raiders, they'll be hesitant to add one, a beginner, within their affairs," the site article explains. "The longer you do to aid a faction by offering information, shooting down their enemies, and finishing quests, the more you'll prove you are someone they can rely on, and your reputation with that faction will increase. At some point, you will grow through seven different standing'ranks. Every time you complete daily challenge, a quest, or create a decision related to a Wastelanders faction, you'll be informed of how much reputation you have gained with that particular group.
If past Fallout games are anything to go by, it is likely you have to make some hard decisions. Bethesda Game Studios loves to style worlds round tensions and the conflicts between political circles and different cultures, so it'll be interesting to see how those kinds of turning points seem with a server being populated by a couple dozen players. Are you going to be forced to burn bridges? Are there a compromise between the two factions? I am hoping this story delivers something fun and unique to the Fallout lore.
In a game all about collecting items that let you craft goods and new objects to your camp, or assist you on your pursuit, these factions will present the world of Appalachia and some new items. "As your reputation ranks using the Raiders and Settlers increase, individuals at Crater and Foundation will treat you with more warmth throughout your interactions, and that faction's vendors will sell you a broader range of goods. By completing story content, you'll also gain access to new vendors that sell plans for a couple of new faction-themed items, which will unlock at certain positions."
If Wastelanders launched along with the trailer on February 4, I'd like it; it seems plausible. See you in the wasteland shortly.
